Senior Adoption Program
The Italian Greyhound Rescue Foundation wants to find homes for all of our foster dogs, no matter what age. Senior dogs are no exception, and are regularly overlooked by people wanting a pet. Often, they are some of the easiest and most well-adjusted dogs in our foster programs. Many of them have lived in a single home most of their lives, and have well tuned potty skills. They really just want a place to live peacefully on a large pile of warm blankets or pillows or in the sun on a beautiful day.
Our adoption donations are based on the age of the dog, so senior pets are the lowest amount to encourage homes to come forward and care for these wonderful dogs. For senior dogs who have been in rescue for an extended period of time, our regional coordinators have some discretion to lower the adoption donations in order to help find more loving homes.
In addition to finding our senior dogs great homes, our senior adoption program also helps reduce the number of dogs in our foster homes, allowing us to help even more dogs as spots become available as each dog is adopted. So, we encourage you to take a look at any of the dogs in our program who really just need a great companion to enjoy for the rest of their lives. They will repay you with so much love for taking them in and providing care and love they desire.
